Advent Altar Frontal, Portsmouth Cathedral
The Advent Altar Frontal is based on a view through the Cathedral arches,
where sunlight shines through a stained glass window. The bright light of
what is to come depicts the Advent theme of 'Out of Darkness into the
Light'.

Jane Lemon is a founder member and Chairman of the Sarum Group, at Salisbury. She was a Costume Designer for B.B.C. Television for eight years, after more than five years experience in the theatre. After spending several years developing and teaching the art of embroidered box making, she has achieved her ambition of working entirely in ecclesiastical embroidery. Her designs may be seen in the Cathedrals of St Albans, Exeter, Portsmouth, Salisbury and Wells, Bath and Sherborne Abbeys, and many churches around the country including Caroline Springs, Melbourne, Australia and two venues in the U.S.A.
Her latest book, "Metal Thread Embroidery" was published by Batsford in November 1987 and has been re-issued in full colour in 2002. It may be purchased through the Embroiderers' Guild Book Shop, tel 020 8943 1229. www.embroiderersguild.com.
Lenten Altar Frontal, Portsmouth Cathedral
The Lenten Altar Frontal depicts an abstracted crown of thorns against a
design reflecting the architectural stonework in the new west end of the
Cathedral.
