This body of work is an exploration into the process of making and marking. We mark time, we are marked by events, we mark our words and I mark my cloths. Although originating in horizons and seascapes, very important geographical locations for me, they have evolved into emotional landscapes of experience and response. They tell no story, they record no scene, however, each mark and texture contains within it memories and openings, awaiting the viewer's personal and individual interpretation.

The work is an investigation into marks, drawing onto different surfaces. Marks inhabit the surface, they incise and they protrude, they physically create surfaces. The viewer’s eye is encouraged to follow the lines, to complete those which are broken and to manufacture others, imposing their own harmonies and lines according to individual whim. It is the process of working on the surface, marking the surface with memories and emotions, and opening up the work to the viewer and beyond.
